Palm Sunday remembers when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. The donkey is a symbol of peace and the palms are a symbol of victory. We remember the cross by which Jesus died and came back again, meaning he had victory over death and over the cross. So when we hold a palm cross we are holding something that symbolizes both sadness and happiness, death and life, defeat and victory, pain and love.
You can use paper, ribbon, long thin leaves or indeed palm leaves if you can get them!
