PlayRight: Youth Drama Project

What is PlayRight?

PlayRight is a free dramatic arts training programme for youth aged 12-18. This low-barrier, weekly program provides an informal space to come together and gain new skills under the umbrella of “drama” - everything from acting, improv, comedy, musical theatre, playwriting, production, or set and stage design.

This program is not limited in the areas it can explore; you are the guide to what you want to learn, you get to create and decide the themes, skills, and issues that you are passionate about. No experience is needed, just come to workshop and try new things.

The program is facilitated by skilled staff, passionate about using the arts to help youth acquire new skills, gain confidence and have a great time together as a community. Our goal is to make this a safe, exciting and fulfilling space for all youth who take part in the program.

Who can take part in PlayRight?

This is a youth-driven, youth-focused program based at the Anglican Cathedral - an LGBTQIAS+ affirming community. It is open to all youth aged 12-18. Whatever your beliefs, you are welcome here. This is a safe space for all. The primary focus of this program is drama training.

Are you over 19 but want to take part?

There are several volunteer opportunities for young adults within the PlayRight program. All volunteers must undergo a criminal record check and Safeguarding basic training.
