I studied at St. John’s College Durham University U.K. and Briercrest College in Caronport Saskatchewan. I aim to hold a broad theological perspective and am captured by the Cathedral’s vision of Open Doors, Open Hearts and Open Minds. My M.A. from Durham was conferred with distinction; the title of my dissertation was “Mary as Intersexed Body of the Church.” At Briercrest College, I worked in academic administration, managing budgets and working in governance. Prior to my ministry at Christ Church Cathedral, I was Assistant to the Rector at Cathedral Church of the Redeemer in Calgary.
I am a priest who delights in choral music and liturgy. I seek to preach relevant biblically-grounded sermons; pastor people to respond to the Spirit of God moving within; and inspire spiritual growth through theological education. I believe that leadership is collaborative and built from the ground up.
I founded the Disability Gospel Project, which promotes commentary on the gospels submitted by disabled people.
What I do here
I am the senior clergy assistant to the Rector/Dean and priest-in-charge in the absence of the Rector/Dean. I share leadership with the Dean in liturgy and preaching, administration and governance. I oversee the ministries of pastoral care, education, and formation.
Quote – “In addition to allowing time for the preparation of a sermon, the preacher must somehow find time for idleness, for it is often in leisure, when a [wo]man has time to reflect, to let [her] imagination slip loose from its ordinary moorings, that not only the material but the spirit of the sermon is found. Such a period of idleness are not a waste of time; they are periods in which time becomes significant . . .” Theodore Parker Ferris, Go Tell the People
