St. Jude’s Anglican Home Society is currently recruiting for new Board Members. St. Jude’s is a not for profit Long term care facility, primarily serving elderly residents assigned by Vancouver Coastal Health who have nursing and dementia care needs. St. Jude’s has a reputation for excellent quality care in a home like setting. The volunteer Board is a largely hands-off board relying on professional staff to handle all day to day medical, housekeeping, building and accounting needs. 

The Board meets for approximately two - three hours every second month, and is primarily focussed on a leadership role supporting and guiding the professional staff, and ensuring the long term viability of the property and organization that has been serving Vancouver elderly residents for nearly 80 years.

EfM has been offering members of the church in-depth learning about our Scripture, history and theology for 50 years. From our website: 

“If you’ve been longing for a place to ask deeper questions (a place where faith isn’t about having all the answers but learning to live the questions faithfully) EfM invites you there. In a small, supportive group, you’ll explore Scripture, tradition, and experience — and discover how they meet in the call to serve God in everyday life. All you need is an open heart and a willingness to listen, learn, and share.”

EfM (Education for Ministry) is intended for the ordinary church member (adult) who is curious about exploring their faith and making sense of it in a 21st century world. Curiosity and the ability to live with difference are important attitudes to bring with you.

EfM has had On-Line EfM groups for over 15 years. There are three groups currently open for new members. These groups consist of learners from across Canada and at different learning levels of the program, including the new one-year “Wide Angle EfM”. The regular EfM program is taken only one year at a time and the full curriculum takes four years to complete.

Right now, the mentor located in this Diocese is offering an information night on August 20th, 2026 for anyone interested in exploring On-Line EfM. We will start at 7 pm and end no later than 8:30 pm.

On July 30, members of the Cathedral congregation travelled to the northern Philippines as part of a delegation led by Archbishop John Stephens. The trip marked the 2026 Diocesan Partner visit to the Episcopal Cathedral of All Saints, our sister cathedral in Botoc.

Archbishop John carried a handmade, VIP rosary for Bishop Benny Lang-akan. Bishop Benny’s rosary is crafted from citrine, green aventurine, and mixed agate, and is graced by an Anglican cross carved from the heritage wood of a retired Anglican pew in the Fraser Valley.

The Reverend Arvin Amayag of St. Mary the Virgin, Sapperton brought additional ministry rosaries for two bishops and two priests he worked alongside during his seminary years. The rosaries for the bishops were handmade using lapis lazuli, aquamarine, citrine, BC jade, and amethyst, and were finished with wooden Celtic crosses. The Reverend Arvin also selected two more handmade rosaries from the Anglican Rosary Ministry display in our Narthex.

All rosaries are blessed by Cathedral clergy prior to their sale, and a simple Introduction to Prayer card is enclosed with each purchase. The various stones chosen for the Philippines carry symbolic meanings of wisdom, tranquillity, prosperity, inner peace, abundance, and positive energy.

St. Luke's Hospital is located in Nablus in the West Bank, under the Palestinian Authority. It serves a population of more than 455,000 people, providing life-saving healthcare and operating as a vital maternity hospital for many in the Palestinian community.

Frequent power outages make it difficult to provide consistent, safe medical care. Reliable electricity is essential for neonatal care, oxygen machines, operating rooms, and other critical hospital services.

Bring light to St. Luke's through the gift of the sun.

Alongside Hope is raising funds to install solar panels so the hospital can have a dependable source of electricity. As part of this effort, the Wild Ride campaign is helping to fund 70 solar panels. Each panel costs $865, which includes installation, maintenance, and associated costs.

Our community hopes to raise $2,000. Every donation, no matter the size, will help provide reliable power for this essential hospital. Thanks to a generous donor, every gift to Light for St. Luke's Wild Ride donations will be matched dollar for dollar.

We are taking on the "Watt's Possible" challenge by walking, cycling, running, embroidering, and using our many talents to support this important project.
