Compline begins on Easter Sunday at 8pmSung Night Prayer The beloved service of Compline begins again on Easter Sunday at 8pm. Compline is the traditional "night prayer" of monastic orders, sung just prior to retiring for sleep. In common with Morning and Evening Prayer, Compline includes versicles and responses, scripture readings, psalms, and a canticle (usually the Nunc Dimittis). The mood is peaceful and reflective, and the service lasts for approximately 30 minutes. The service is sung by the Cathedral Compline Choir. We invite you to attend in-person - there is no livestream available. Please note: there is no Sundays@4 service on Easter Sunday. View the Sundays@4 schedule here. |

Baby Shower for JoshuaSubmitted by Holly McMillan and Judy Mostardi We’ve all come to know and appreciate Father Christian over these past few months. It is now time to welcome his wife Debbie and his son Joshua to our community. Everyone is invited to a baby shower/reception as part of the coffee hour after the 10:30 service on April 27th. Baby gifts for Joshua are appreciated; either individual gifts, or for those who would like to contribute to a larger item (e.g. crib), there will be an opportunity to participate and sign a group card at coffee hour over the next couple of weeks. We would prefer earlier than Easter Sunday as it could be a bit hectic that day. If you would like ideas from a wish list for Joshua, please check with Holly MacMillan or Judy Mostardi. There will be cake! |

Turn Down the Heat!Submitted by CATS (Climate Action Through Stewarding) Volunteering is one way to bring down the heat! The Suzuki Elders are a group of mostly seniors who are affiliated with the David Suzuki Foundation (DSF). The idea for the group dates back over two decades and it came from David Suzuki himself, who thought that the people working for the Foundation on a myriad of environmental projects might benefit by meeting with and listening to elders – much as younger leaders in Indigenous nations listen to their own elders. Earth Day - Tuesday, April 22, 2025Submitted by CATS (Climate Action Through Stewarding) Fossil fuels are a major contributor to the devastating effects of climate change across our planet. The current rate of fossil fuel consumption cannot be sustained. To try to mitigate this damage and cease causing further damage, renewable energy must be employed globally. Thus, the theme for Earth Day 2025 is “OUR POWER, OUR PLANET”. The aim is to ...

40-min forum: Learnings from the Cathedral CensusAn update on the results of the Cathedral Census and what we've learned so far - Sunday, May 4, 2025 Join Jane Osler and Jennifer Barr to learn about the results of the Cathedral Census. Jane and Jennifer will share what we're learning about the makeup of our Cathedral community and will be telling us what's next in the Strategic Planning process. Come and join us to learn, to reflect and to hear what God might be telling us about who we're called to be now. Your voice matters! --- About the Census and the Strategic Planning Process: The Census was designed to understand the new composition of the Cathedral congregation which is much changed from 5 years ago. This will help clergy, lay leaders, and ministry teams shape programs and services that reflect the needs of our diverse congregation. The Census is just the first part of the Strategic Planning process and is being followed by a Future Outlook Survey launching Sunday April 27. This second survey is a deeper dive into what matters most in our Cathedral life and will shape our discussions in the upcoming Listening Circles taking place in June. |

What You Are Seeking Is Seeking YouSubmitted by Hadani Ditmars - Wednesday, April 16, 2025 What you are seeking is seeking you - Rumi Sometimes the distance, as Leonard Cohen wrote, “between the TV news and your tiny pain” can be a faraway/so close experience. As someone who has been reporting on and from the Middle East for three decades, and whose great grandparents were Syrian Orthodox refugees who fled Ottoman oppression for Canada in 1906, the distance between here and the Middle East can seem vast. When I go to church and hear Bible readings about Babylon and Nineveh, Jerusalem and Bethlehem, I visualize them as actual places I have been to, with real, living Christian communities. But the Christianity of North America seems a far, rather diluted cry from the intense, incense heavy ... For more infomation visit: http://thecathedral.ca/blog/what-you-are-seeking-is-seeking-you
