Deanery pilgrimageWalking and praying together On Saturday Oct 3rd, the day before the feast of St. Francis, a number of us from the deanery(1) met at the Cathedral for a walk to St. James. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny Vancouver afternoon. The Cathedral provided some light refreshments, coffee and tea upstairs. Before we got ready to leave, we gave thanks for being called into ministry together, to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our deanery, and to encourage ... For more infomation visit:

Be Welcoming
"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it." — Hebrews 13:2 — The bronze sculpture “Be Welcoming” arrived at the Cathedral on Wednesday and has been installed near the Burrard Street lower-level door. Created by Canadian artist Timothy Paul Schmalz, the statue was inspired by Hebrews 13:2, and represents a stranger who transforms into an angel. Similar statues can also be found in Covenant Gardens at St. Thomas Canterbury in London, England, as well as in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City. “Homeless Jesus”, another bronze sculpture by the same artist, can be found outside the main doors of Holy Rosary Cathedral at the corner of Richards and Dunsmuir Streets. |

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Dear friends! Are there knitters in the congregation who would like a simple fall and winter project? Our basket of prayer shawls is empty, and it would be appreciated if all those who can would consider knitting a few. There are plenty of balls of yarn in an office basket that you can access if needed. This is an important ministry that does not entail meetings, zoom calls, or reports! Just knitted (or crocheted) prayer shawls, about 5 feet long and 18 inches wide, made of acrylic and washable yarn. The shawls are blessed by one of our clergy and then made available to folks in hospital, palliative care, or anyone needing an extra bit of “Jesus in their life,” as one of our VST students once said. |

Alongside Hope: Light for St. Luke's Hospital
Thank you for all your support for the solar panels at St. Luke’s Hospital in Nablus, Westbank. The total raised to date is $4,338.15. This is from parishioners at the Cathedral and friends and from All Saint’s Ladner, who partnered with us. Thank you to everyone! We are in the final two weeks of our campaign, but it's not too late to give. Donations are welcome until the end of October. It’s a great support as our donation joins donations from parishes across the country with this Alongside Hope (The Anglican Church of Canada’s World Relief and Development Fund) project. You are welcome to visit the website link in this notice if you would still like to donate. You receive an income tax receipt right away. The website will be open until the end of October. St. Luke's Hospital is located in Nablus in the West Bank, under the Palestinian Authority. It serves a population of more than 455,000 people, providing life-saving healthcare and operating as a vital maternity hospital for many in the Palestinian community. Frequent power outages make it difficult to provide consistent, safe medical care. Reliable electricity is essential for neonatal care, oxygen machines, operating rooms, and other critical hospital services. Bring light to St. Luke's through the gift of the sun. Alongside Hope is raising funds to install solar panels so the hospital can have a dependable source of electricity. As part of this effort, the Wild Ride campaign is helping to fund 70 solar panels. Each panel costs $865, which includes installation, maintenance, and associated costs. Every donation, no matter the size, will help provide reliable power for this essential hospital. If you’d like to support this work, please do so by the end of October 2026 by going to the link below connecting you to the website. You will receive a tax receipt to your email. Thanks to a generous donor, every gift to Light for St. Luke's Wild Ride donations will be matched dollar for dollar. Donations can be made online here. |
