SEASON OF CREATION (SEP 1st- OCT 4th)
|
Prayer for Season of CreationBishop John Stephens God of dancing light and beckoning hope, as we walk through this Season of Creation, may it be a season filled with surprise and wonder. May we pay more attention to the moon above and the ground below. May we engage with bird calls and whispering winds. May we notice the changing of colours on the trees and the ripening of fruit on the vine. May we see your image in the face of the people in our lives and on the waters of ocean and lake. May we encounter your grace on mountain-tops and dew on the grass. But we also bring our concerns, O creating One. We bring our concerns for a planet in crisis. A planet increasing in heat and storm and acidity. A planet with rising waters, melting ice and disappearing creatures. We walk too much in the world of finance and not enough in the world of holy encounter. Guide our footsteps in this Season of Creation to open our eyes and open our hearts that we may be instruments of change and bearers of your hope. We pray in Jesus’ name, the one who is the vine and the light of this world. Amen. June 2024 |
A Prayer and Offering for the Season of CreationArchbishop Chris Harper (National Indigenous Bishop) FEATHER (Prayer): Creator of all, the seasons stand to glorify your name through every passing moment and all creation lifts up thanksgiving for your handiwork. We thank you for this new day and the opportunities that open before us like petals of the flower. In this Season of Creation, we, the children of your hand, acknowledge that we have been distracted by our own work and reflection. We acknowledge that we have failed or stained your beauty in the work and creatures of this world. Please help us by guiding us back to the right path of your ways and purpose. Walk with us that we may in humility treat each other better, that we may seek to see the blessings, and your truth, in the moments and beauty before us all. Put peace in our hearts and bless us that we may be a blessing to others that join us in our journey of life and faith. Amen. |

Dean's Creation Challenge: Be a Good Steward“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” - Psalm 24:1 - Thursday, August 29, 2024 God is the ultimate owner of everything in the world. We are merely temporary caretakers or stewards of God's possessions. Good stewardship involves acknowledging this truth and using the resources entrusted to us in a way that aligns with God’s will and brings glory to God's name. During the Season of Creation [Sept 1- Oct 4], I challenge each of us to find a way through action that we can acknowledge that Creation is God's and we are called to be good stewards of it for God. Using the critical thinking skills God has endowed us with we can discern ways to be better stewards. What will we do?
