Last year parishioners at Christ Church Cathedral celebrated the 135th anniversary of laying the cornerstone of the Cathedral. Now we give thanks for the life of Penny Charlesworth (1937–2025), a living stone who supported and nurtured The Cathedral.
 
For over thirty years, Penny was a central figure in all aspects of Cathedral life: as a Warden, Parish Council Member-at-Large, a member of many ministries, and a contributor to all major Cathedral events. 

If you kneel while praying, you might be resting on one of the beautiful kneeling benches that she and others refurbished. For her generous service, Penny was inducted into the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster.  
 
In 2017, at the urging of her children, Penny and her husband Ted moved to Comox to be closer to family, thus closing a significant chapter in Penny's involvement here.
 
She died on April 29 in Courtenay, BC surrounded by her loved ones. We mourn her death and give thanks for her life well-lived. May she rest in peace.
