On Sunday, October 26, Christ Church Cathedral will host a memorable and historic liturgy: Archbishop Shane Parker, the newly installed Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, will preside at the 10:30 a.m. Choral Eucharist, and during the service he will present Jane Osler with the 2025 Anglican Award of Merit, the national Church’s highest lay honour. The Very Rev. David Monteith, Dean of Canterbury, will preach at both the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services that day.

Jane Osler was among five lay recipients announced in March 2025 by the Council of General Synod.  The Anglican Award of Merit is conferred to “lay people who have made outstanding contributions toward the life and work of the Church.”  In announcing the 2025 recipients, the Anglican Journal noted that Osler “has devoted … time and effort to our beloved national church” alongside others honoured in dioceses across Canada.  Her service in this Cathedral parish has included...

As we observe All Souls Day, please join us for a presentation by John Martin, Spiritual Care Provider at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). John has been doing fascinating work diving into Cecil Owen, who was a rector at Christ Church before it was a cathedral and was the first chaplain at VGH.

During the 10:30 AM service, children are invited to come downstairs to the Park Room for a Godly Play* lesson. They will come back upstairs and rejoin parents for communion. 

*Godly Play is a beautiful and thoughtful Montessori-informed approach that nurtures children's spirituality as they engage with the stories and sacraments of the church. It was developed by Dr. Jerome Berryman, an American Anglican priest. 

Join us on Sundays at 12:30 PM in the Park Room (or the Chancel if the Park Room is booked. The Chancel is at the front of the church, near the altar). Bring your lunch or buy your lunch in between coffee hour and the start of our discussion group.

Are you looking for a way to deepen your spiritual life? Every weekday morning at 9:30 AM the Cathedral holds Morning Prayer.

We will follow a simple liturgy with a Psalm, a Reading, Prayer and Silence. This form of regular, daily prayer is used in the Anglican Communion and a number of other church denominations. All are welcome to start the day in prayer with us.

Morning Prayer takes place online via Zoom. To join in, please click HERE at 9:30 AM on weekdays.

The weekly Upper Zoom Bible Study resumes on Thursdays at 7:30 PM. We gather online for a time of learning, reflection, and conversation about the upcoming Sunday's readings, using a method inspired by Lectio Divina. It’s a wonderful opportunity to grow in faith and connect with one another, even from the comfort of home.

All are welcome to BYOB (Bring Your Own Bible) and join!

The Cathedral will be hosting a Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop, from 9:30 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, November 8th. Participants are invited to also attend four continuing sessions which will be held from 7 PM to 8:30 PM at the Cathedral on Tuesday Nov 18th, Nov 25th, Dec 9th and Dec 16th.

The suggested cost of the workshop is $225. This includes the workshop (refreshments & lunch will be provided), community of practice continuing sessions and a paperback copy of Open Mind, Open Heart by Thomas Keating. 

Healing Touch, in-person, is available for members of Christ Church Cathedral on the third Sunday of the month. 

The next in-person Healing Touch offering will be on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Sessions will be offered at 12:15 PM, and 12:45 PM in the Park Room.

Sometimes it's difficult for men to find safe spaces in which to explore deep questions of life and spirit.

The Cathedral invites all men to join in monthly breakfasts, alternating between in-person in the church hall and virtually via Zoom. At each meeting a guest provides a spark to inspire reflection and conversation about different issues tied to what it means to be a man in the 21st century.

On August 16th, Anglican Rector Emilie Smith (St. Barnabas in NW) began a pilgrimage to COP30 in Belém, Brazil. She left from Coast Salish Territories and is travelling in a green, sustainable way by bus, boat, bike, train, and burro to attend the conference.

Christ Church Cathedral’s Alongside Hope Committee with Jeremiah Mwangi as CCC’s Coordinator (a committee of 8, with 5 folks from Kenya), chose this Kenya Agricultural Women’s Partnership to focus on, as an educational fundraiser at CCC from September until November. We will have a special Kenyan dessert/coffee gathering and presentation after the 10:30 AM servce on November 16, 2025.

Our beloved friend, wife, and sister Leslie Anne Roach died Saturday, September 27 in hospital following a traffic accident two days earlier. Her family were gathered around her in prayer accompanied by the Reverend Lorie Martin. Leslie Anne is survived by husband Bruce Friesen; brother David Roach and sister-in-law Linda Roach (Calgary); and brother Thomas Roach and brother-in-law Peter Elliott.

Leslie Anne joined the Cathedral congregation in the late 1980’s when she moved to Vancouver from Alberta. She will be much loved and remembered for her gentle and empathetic way of connecting with every person that she encountered. She was active in many ways over the years with the Disciple and CDRA groups, Altar Guild and Greeting Teams. She loved flowers, was a key member of the decorating team, and was the chief architect of the annual floral cross at Easter.

Leslie Anne joined St. Thomas’s in Chilliwack when she and Bruce relocated to Chilliwack two years ago. She rapidly became an integral and well-loved part of that community too.

She was deeply loved and will be missed by many in both congregations. A memorial service will take place Saturday, October 25 at 1pm at St Thomas’s Anglican Church, Chilliwack. A livestream will be available via the St. Thomas’s website:
