Dear Friends,
I hope you are enjoying this season of Easter. I pray that it has given you some time to relax into the promise of new life and enjoy some time in sun.
I want to share with you some of our plans for the Children's ministry. Amelie Dutra and Kalyana Dey (Children's Ministry Assistant and Children's Ministry Volunteer) have left Vancouver for the summer as their term at UBC came to an end. We look forward to welcoming them back in the fall.
Sunday school will continue to be offered on Sundays during the 10.30am service until Sunday June 28, led by our Children's Ministry Assistant, Kaka Felasia. On Sunday June 28th, we will offer special summer treats to celebrate the end of the program year at coffee hour.
Children will meet in the Park room and then come upstairs for communion and join their families for the rest of the service. The playmats will be available as well.
Children are invited to stay upstairs to worship with their families on the following days:
- Sunday May 24: Africa Sunday and Pentecost
- Sunday May 31: Former Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, will be preaching
On Sunday June 21st (National Indigenous Day of Prayer), Rev. Areeta will be leading a 'Story Walk' of the book the Orca Chief during Sunday school.
We will pause Sunday school for the summer and the play mats will be available in the main worship space throughout.
Please save the dates:
- Sunday September 6 during the 10.30am - Blessing of the Backpacks
- Sunday September 13 we will resume Sunday school
We look forward to continuing to journey with you!
Your sister in Christ,
Areeta+
O God, Creator of heaven and earth,
you love the natural world:
each plant and animal, each mountain and river,
each ray of sunshine, wave of water, and breath of fresh air.
Shape our lives to behave in ways that are loving
toward all creatures great and small,
for you, God, made them all. Amen. (adapted from Jenifer Gamber and Timothy J. S. Seamans, Common Prayer for Children and Families, p. 113.)
