The Maundy Café

It is Christ Church’s food ministry that began in the 1980’s when homemade soup, sandwiches and coffee were handed out at the office window by volunteers. Volunteers have always been the main stay of Maundy Café and today, along with the Maundy Café Manager, serve full course, nutritious meals three times a week to an ever-growing number of guests.

Sharing food in a friendly, congenial, safe space with live piano, is an invitation and opportunity to connect with others, improve health and support resiliency among the men and women who live with food insecurity in Vancouver’s downtown core.

Our table is open to guests and volunteers no matter their faith, race, sexual orientation or background.

The Cafe currently serves lunch Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30am to 12:30pm in the Parish Hall. Guests have the option of a sit-down meal, or take-out meal. 

As a member of a volunteer team, bring your time and energy once or twice a week for three hours to help prepare and serve food, and through your engagement honour the agency, creativity, dignity, intellect and worth of all who come to the table. It is a personally rewarding experience making new friends, working together, becoming part of a diverse, vibrant, serving community.

Consider sharing your financial resources to purchase the food – especially protein – that will become the nutritious meals we serve. As food costs continue to increase, we rely on Christ Church Cathedral and its members, individual donors, private and public foundations, business and community organizations for their generosity and financial support.
