The Reverend Juanita Clark is a cradle Anglican who was born in Kamloops, BC. After living across Canada, she happily settled on the North Shore many decades ago. Juanita began her career in nursing before transitioning to Indigenous Affairs Canada, where she felt incredibly fortunate to serve alongside Canada’s First Peoples.
While exploring contemplative prayer at St. John’s North Vancouver, Juanita discerned a calling to diaconal ministry. She pursued her diaconal education through the Education for Ministry Program (Sewanee’s University of the South) and earned a Certificate of Theological Studies from the Vancouver School of Theology, followed by a one-year internship at St. James, Vancouver. She also holds a Diploma in Human Resource Management with Honors from BCIT.
Ordained in 2018 in the Diocese of New Westminster, Juanita initially served as a Parish Deacon at St. John’s North Vancouver. She then spent five years at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) as a Deacon on Chaplain Bryan Rivers’ pastoral care team. During this time, she completed two units of Clinical Psycho-Spiritual Education through Vancouver Coastal Health, which included internships at Richmond Hospital and Cedarview Long-Term Care. Following this, she was honored to serve an 18-month contract on the trauma and acute care Spiritual Care on-call team at Lions Gate Hospital (LGH).
Currently, Juanita serves the Diocese as the weekend Anglican Chaplain at LGH, leads a Christian Meditation & Reflections group at Evergreen House, and conducts monthly worship services at two long-term care facilities. She is absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to assist with Sunday worship at both Christ Church Cathedral and St. Christopher’s West Vancouver.
To find balance in her life, Juanita enjoys choral music, yoga, creative cooking, travel, and getting lost in the beauty of nature—whether through gentle hikes, snowshoeing, or spending time in her garden.
