Thank you to the Cathedral community and St. James’ Anglican, alongside Alongside Hope, Anglicans, and partners working for change in Canada and around the world.
The Christ Church Cathedral Alongside Hope Committee worked with the Alongside Hope national office to offer an educational and fundraising effort over the autumn. This focused on the Kenyan Women’s Agricultural Partnership, which supports women farmers in Kenya who have faced drought by providing leadership skills, climate-responsive farming practices, and new seeds to grow.
Alongside Hope partnered with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, which is supported by the Canadian government on a 4:1 basis. The Cathedral’s Alongside Hope Committee raised $8,328.00, including $2,500.00 from St. James’. With Canadian government support, the total raised is $33,312.00.
Photos are attached from our closing celebration on November 16, 2025, marking the completion of this Alongside Hope fundraising effort at the Cathedral. At the celebration, Kenyan chai, mandazi (a Kenyan dessert), and sustainably grown Kenyan coffee were offered in appreciation for the support from the Cathedral, St. James’ Anglican, and all who have supported Alongside Hope.
