During the Season of Creation, the Cathedral CATS have been pleased to host an exhibit of photographs, poetry and paintings that reflect our interaction with trees.
We called the exhibit CreaTREEvity – wonderfully named by Sue Wagner. We looked at pictures of trees in forests, city trees, trees in all kinds of weather. We saw how trees relate to and support many forms of life around them. We had a chance to express our concern for our old growth forests, expanding our tree canopy, and we gave thanks to trees for providing us with clean air.
As Susan Alexander’s poem in the exhibit reminds us, it is necessary to talk about trees because they have to much to say to us. From them we can learn to better take care of them and of each other.
The exhibit will be taken down after the 10:30 service on Sunday October 4th, the last day of the Season of Creation. Photos and paintings will be returned to those who shared them, and their names will be in a random draw to win a copy of THE BOOK OF TREES -TREES IN ART.
Thank you to all who participated and shared comments. If you want to have another look before the exhibit comes down, do so before noon on October 4th. It may be your last chance to see Pastor Matthew Senf in gumboots!
