As even more unmarked graves are discovered in British Columbia, on the eve of "Canada Day" I found this poem by Margaret Macpherson which feels like it captures some of the different things I've been feeling, and perhaps you have too.

I saw a dark field filled with light
where no light existed
before.

I saw a map of stars on the ground
the souls of the stolen
Instructing our world to stop,
weep.

Grieve
Name
Reclaim
Weep more. And still more.

Night lingers, dawn remains
an impossible
distance.

Yet that field of stars,
speaking
at last,
breaks silence,
breaks hearts silent too long
Breaks our country into
Before and After.

Breaks what needs to be broken.
