How anxious are you about the state of the world? If you worry about climate chaos, heartbreaking warfare and political uncertainty or the future for your children, you are not alone. How can we as Christians continue to live in hope while facing such challenges? The next speaker at the upcoming CATS 40-minute forum at CCC will be speaking about just that.

Speaking from his studies and research, as well as having a wide experience in contemplative practice, Dr. Jason M. Brown will explore ways we can stay connected with each other and love the world more deeply, even as we struggle with a sense of loss.

Dr. Brown teaches courses at SFU in religious studies and ecological humanities. He studied anthropology as an undergraduate at Brigham Young University. His master's work is in forestry and theology from Yale, and he completed his PhD in 2017 from the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) at the University of British Columbia. He is the author of a book Dwelling in the Wilderness: Modern Monks in the American West, described as an Intimate journey into the lives of contemporary Roman Catholic monks and their sense of place.

At SFU he has established an Ecological Chaplaincy Pilot Project to explore the provision of pastoral and spiritual care to members of the SFU community experiencing anxiety and grief related to the climate and extinction crises.

Please join the Cathedral Cats in attending an inspiring and hopeful forum.
