Dear Friends,

When my seminary friend first sent me the parish profile of the Cathedral, it struck a deep chord within me.

The images of the thoughtfully lit space, the openness to the Spirit that I saw in the movable chairs, the connection to the Land that I felt through the use of wood, stone and glass in the architecture spoke to my soul about a capacity and desire for encounter with Divine Mystery. I felt the emotional breadth and depth that was possible in this space in this community.

It is this aspect of the Cathedral’s identity that made it such a natural fit as a member of the network of parishes that form the Centre for Spiritual Renewal. The Centre’s vocation is a response to the deep hunger to grow in God’s grace, to be a place where people come to encounter God’s loving presence, and to experience a genuine faith community. The opportunities that the Centre provides are to help deepen and widen our spiritual journey.

This Sunday, I invite you to join us for a delicious lunch catered by Bette Geddes, and a presentation and conversation facilitated by the Reverend Lorie Martin on the Centre for Spiritual Renewal.

At the Cathedral, we are seeking to nurture opportunities for contemplative practices in community (like centering prayer, labyrinth walks, retreats). Anglican spirituality is communal at heart and I look forward to hearing how the Divine speaks through you about how we are called to meet the deep hunger for God in our city.

Your sister in Christ,
