All are welcome at the third Cathedral for the City Poetry event, where Kevin Spenst & Rhea Tregebov will offer some of their favourite poems and engage in celebrating the ordinary – the beauty & strangeness, the surprise & depth of experiences worthy to be shared.
Kevin Spenst, a Pushcart Poetry nominee, is the author of four books of poetry, along with nineteen chapbooks, and the forthcoming non-fiction collection Stanley Park Manor: A Collective History. His work has won the Lush Triumphant Award for Poetry & been nominated for both the Alfred G. Bailey Prize & the Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry. Kevin is one of the Poetry Mentors at The Writer’s Studio at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. -- Website: kevinspenst.com.
Rhea Tregebov is the author of eight collections of poetry. Talking to Strangers (Vehicule Press, 2024), her most recent, won both the 2024 Canadian Jewish Literary Award for Poetry & the 2025 Western Canadian Jewish Book Award for Poetry. Her poems have earned the Pat Lowther Award, the Prairie Schooner Reader's Choice Award, & the Malahat Review Long Poem Award. She's also authored two novels & five children’s picture books. Born in Saskatoon & raised in Winnipeg, she now lives in Vancouver, where she is Associate Professor Emerita at the School of Creative Writing at UBC. -- Website: rheatregebov.ca.
