For our next showing, we are offering One Life, a biographical drama film starring Anthony Hopkins and directed by James Hawes. Hopkins plays Nicholas Winton, who as a 29 year old London stockbroker visits Czechoslovakia in September 1938. There, in Prague, he witnesses the horrific living conditions of the refugees who have fled the rise of Nazis in Germany and Austria. Winton decides to help as many of the refugee children as he can.
This film explores themes of what an individual is capable of when confronted by injustice and the extraordinary moral conviction that drives them to make a change.
If you are able, please stay for what we are sure will be a spirited discussion!
