Ascension is not an invitation to look backward or stand still, but a call to active witness in the uncertain “in-between” of God’s kingdom already begun and not yet fulfilled. Jesus redirects the disciples from anxiety, nostalgia, and worldly expectations toward the mission of God, promising the power and companionship of the Holy Spirit. In times of transition, fear, injustice, and change, the Church is called to move beyond staring at where Jesus was and instead serve where Christ is already at work: among the hungry, the hurting, the excluded, and all who long for hope.
