Sacred Shores: Pilgrimage Across the Celtic North: In 2026, we continue the journey we began last summer, tracing ancient wells and living waters into new terrain. Guided by Dean Christopher Pappas and Dr. Neil Cockburn, our week draws pilgrims into the rugged beauty and spiritual imagination of the Celtic North—from the windswept stones of Iona to the tidal holy ground of Lindisfarne. Through daily prayer shaped by the rhythms of early monastic communities, rich storytelling, reflective teaching, and evocative musical textures, we will explore how pilgrimage forms the heart, deepens discipleship, and renews the Church’s life today. Anchored in tradition yet alive to the Spirit’s movement, this week invites participants to walk the ancient paths with fresh eyes and open hearts.

Harold’s course in Cathedral Week at Sorrento

Can there be hope in face of the climate crisis? Can there even be joy? YES!!

The first Christians proclaimed, against all the evidence and in face of the brutal Roman occupation, that God had put everything right through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Even some of the disciples didn’t believe it. But that triumph is what the Christian faith is about.

Climate anxiety is our modern experience of the oppression of forces beyond our control. Can we discover the early Christians’ sense of joy and confidence in the face of the climate crisis in our time? In this course, we will follow Christ to the cross and discover there the same joy that drove Jesus’ followers around the world and which is as powerful today as then in enabling  us to proclaim good news in face of the looming climate threat.

Can God can turn the climate crisis into joy? Believe it!

For five mornings Harold will speak and invite dialogue, about how grounded joy can be our secret power over climate anxiety. The Christian faith provides the path to joy  and fulfillment, no matter what crisis or disaster we are facing.

This is a unique opportunity… bring your questions, your anxiety, and your joy, and just see what happens!

Who’s Harold?

Before ordination Harold Munn taught science for three years to African students in Malawi, east Africa. He was ordained 53 years ago in the Yukon where he served for  seven years, then twenty years in Edmonton, eleven of which as Dean of All Saints Cathedral, and thirteen years as rector of St. John the Divine in downtown Victoria, where he was engaged in both the arts and with issues of street poverty. His doctoral studies examined the experiences of articulate non-believers to understand the world view of our secular society. In retirement Harold taught as Anglican Mentor for three years at the Vancouver School of Theology, taught a course in Cathedral Week at Sorrento last summer about how to present the faith in a secular context, is an  associate of the Society of Ordained Scientists, is honoured by friendships with people serving long sentences in prisons up the valley, has been active in climate and social justice movements, is a frequent visiting preacher and presider in congregations in this Diocese and on Vancouver Island, and is an honorary assistant at Christ Church Cathedral. He and Claire have been married 52 years and love it!
