Perception, misconception, and confession are at the heart of today's text where Jesus asks of the disciples historically, and therefore all of us pragmatically, who do you say that I am? Is the Church founded on the disciple Simon Peter or on the confession of Peter? Why isn't Justa, the Canaanite woman of the preceding chapter, whose confession is so much more compelling than that of poor Simon, not a model for the papacy? All this and a little flowing Jesus hair make up today's exploration.
