Healing Prayer Ministry

The Cathedral's Healing Prayer ministry is centered on healing through prayer. This ministry acknowledges that healing is God's work, and that those who offer this ministry are instruments of the divine presence and care for people.

Prayers for healing are offered with a posture of trust, openness, and faith that God will continue the healing ministry of Christ through the Church. Our ministry with and amongst those who are sick is about God's unfolding healing process, rather than a cure.

How can I volunteer?

Members of the Healing Prayer team are typically added once a year, by a process of mutual discernment. Typically, names are proposed by current team members and the group discerns which names will be put forward to the Dean and Vicar for their consideration.

In some cases, as with the expansion of this ministry to the 5.30pm St. Brigid's Eucharist, those discerning a call to this ministry approached the Dean, Vicar, and ministry coordinators to discern ways of offering this ministry at another Cathedral liturgy.

If you are discerning a call to the Healing Prayer team, email the Cathedral office for more information.
