It is with mixed feelings that I both celebrate with Rupert and lament the end of his tenure. The words that come to mind are “well done, good and faithful servant.” I want us to celebrate Rupert’s ministry together over these next two years. I have spoken with Rupert and I asked him to think of what what he considers the highlights from his 36 years at the Cathedral so we can celebrate those moments. He agreed with the idea and we will work together to highlight the tremendous and varied musical repertoire that Rupert has offered up to the Glory of God. In these next two years we will celebrate his ministry and showcase those pieces that Rupert would like to present once more.

In addition, I will be working with the wardens and a few other select individuals to begin putting together a process to help in the search and selection of a new Director of Music. One cannot replace Rupert, but we can discern whom God is calling to make music with us and build on the solid foundation that Rupert has laid to continue to raise spires and chords of beauty and harmony in worshipping God.  As we move forward there will be further updates as the process develops.

Blessings,
